Afghanistan have announced their 17-member squad for the historic ODI series against Pakistan which will be played in the UAE in September.

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Friday released the squad with former captains Asghar Afghan and Gulbadin Naib being the notable omissions from the 17-member squad as five uncapped players have been named in the lineup. Hashmatullah Shahidi will take the charge as the full time ODI skipper and he’ll be supported by Rahmat Shah, who’s been named as his deputy.

The Afghan boys had last played an ODI series in January against Ireland, which they had won comfortably with a margin of 3-0. After that series win, Asghar was axed from the captaincy duties.
