Pakistan Super League, 2021 draft took place on 10th January as all the six franchises made final additions to their respective squads. There were a total of 6 categories (Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Emerging and Supplementary) under which the players were placed.

In the Platinum category, Hasan Ali moved to Islamabad United after playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the first 5 seasons of the league. Tom Banton and Chris Gayle would be donning Quetta Gladiators’ jersey, David Miller was snapped by Peshawar Zalmi. Rashid Khan was roped in by Lahore Qalandars, while Chris Lynn made a move to Multan Sultans.

Under diamond category, Peshawar Zalmi gave a huge boost to their squad by adding Mujeeb ur Rahman and hard-hitter Sherfane Rutherford to their roster. The no.1 ranked T20 all-rounder, Mohammad Nabi and Australia’s Dan Christian would be seen representing Karachi Kings this year. Lewis Gregory was picked up by Islamabad United.

In the next category-Gold, Usman Shinwari and Chadwick Walton were roped in by Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings respectively. Samit Patel earned a spot in Lahore Qalandars, while Phil Salt and Amad Butt got a place in Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi respectively.

Most players were placed under the silver category. Islamabad United opted for Rohail Nazir, Reece Topley and Iftikhar Ahmed. Multan Sultans selected Sohail Khan, Mohammad Rizwan, Shoaib Maqsood, Adam Lyth and Shoaibullah. Peshawar Zalmi snapped Umaid Asif, Saqib Mahmood, Imam-ul-Haq, M Imran Randhawa and Mohammad Irfan Sr, the defending champions – Karachi Kings picked Joe Clarke, Danish Aziz, Mohammad Ilyas and Zeeshan Malik.

Cameron Delport, Qais Ahmed and Abdul Nasir would represent Quetta Gladiators, while additions of Tom Abell, Zeeshan Ashraf, Salman Agha and Mohammad Faizan strengthened Lahore Qalandars’ squad.
