Injury woes continued to go hand in hand with India as one of the hero’s in the Team’s stunning performance Hanuma Vihari pulled his hamstring while attempting to run a single early on in his innings. Though he continued and stay till the end facing 161 balls scoring 23 runs ensuring a draw, he was batting with pain throughout his innings.

After his marathon effort despite the discomfort, it is learnt that Vihari has suffered a tear and seemed like he will be out for a considerable amount of time.

A BCCI source said to PTI after the game on Monday that Vihari has been ruled out the final Test and most likely will not feature in the home Tests against England as well.

The extent of Vihari’s tear can only be ascertained after the scan reports come through. But even if it’s a grade 1 tear, he is out for at least four weeks and then will need some rehabilitation time. So it’s not only Brisbane Test but also, he won’t be a part of England Tests at home,” a source said to PTI.

Mayank Agarwal suffers a blow to his hand in nets, report awaited on his availability

Mayank Agarwal was tipped to replace Vihari but unfortunately the former has apparently sustained a knock in his hand in the nets and may have suffered a hairline fracture. While a report on his scans is still awaited, the team management might still look to play Agarwal in the middle-order if it’s just a bruise.  It is also being said that Wriddhiman Saha will play as a keeper while Pant keeps his place as a specialist batsman.

We have to wait and see between the duo, Mayank Agarwal or Wriddhiman Saha will replace an injured Hanuma Vihari in the side for the 4th and final Test match at Brisbane which starts on Jan 15th.

Shardul Thakur likely to replace Jasprit Bumrah at the Gabba

Jasprit Bumrah who is also ruled out of the final Test due to Abdominal strain will likely be replaced by Shardul Thakur who has played a solitary game in the whites of India. While there is an outside chance of T Natarajan making his Test debut, Thakur seems to be the one who will get the nod as the 3rd seamer.

By the looks of things, the visitors will field a depleted side in a must-win game in the context of both the series as well as the World Test Championship.
