BBL 2021-22: Shadab Khan signs for Sydney Sixers

Pakistan leg spin star Shadab Khan has joined the Sydney Sixers for the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL 2021-22).

Shadab represented the Brisbane Heat in the three games of the BBL 2017 and since then, he hasn’t been able to partake in the prestigious T20 tournament of Australia due to tight scheduling by the PCB. In those three games, he collected six wickets at an impressive economy rate of 7.08, With the PSL-7 is scheduled to start on January 27 next year and most of Pakistan’s prominent T20 stars are joining various T20 teams around the world for some short stints.

Shadab recently posted a picture with the Melbourne Stars paceman, Haris Rauf, in a flight and has asked his followers to guess the place they’re heading towards.

The right-arm leg spinner has played 64 T20Is for Pakistan since his debut in March 2017 where he collected 73 wickets at 21.79 with an excellent economy rate of 7.11.

It is to be noted that Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain, Syed Faridoun, and Ahmed Daniyal have also signed agreements to play in the league. Haris, Faridoun, and Daniyal are representing Melbourne Stars while Hasnain is playing for Sydney Thunders.

Sixers head coach Greg Shipperd said he’s excited about the prospect of working with Shadab and is looking to see him play in for the defending champions.

“Shadab joins us as cover for the bowlers we have lost and comes together with two other young and exciting spinners in Lloyd Pope and Todd Murphy,” he said.

“All three young men are still learning their craft but have shown at various levels that they can be world class.

“We welcome Shadab’s skills in all three facets of the game and can’t wait to see him get an opportunity in coming matches.”

The Moises Henriques-led side sits second on the table behind the undefeated Perth Scorchers, and they’ll play their next game against the Sydney Thunder on Boxing Day at Sydney Showground Stadium.
