Former Pakistan allrounder – Abdul Razzaq claimed that the talent pool in Pakistan Cricket is much better than Indian Cricket. He feels that because of this huge difference, Virat Kohli’s men are afraid of playing against Babar Azam’s team.
Both teams are playing against each other only in global tournaments due to the bad political relationships between both the countries. Razzaq felt that this is not good for the sport as the Ind-Pak matches always create a lot of buzz.
Both teams will now play against each other in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021. The Ind-Pak match will be played in the Dubai on 24th Oct.
Last time both teams played against each other in T20 format in the T20 World Cup 2016 in Kolkata. Last time both teams faced each other in the ICC World Cup 2019 where India beat Pakistan by 89 runs (DLS).
While speaking to ARY TV, Abdul Razzaq said:
“I don’t think India can compete with Pakistan. The kind of talent Pakistan has is entirely different, and this I don’t think is a good thing for cricket that India and Pakistan do not have matches.”
“It used to be an exciting prospect and give players the opportunity to show how much pressure they could handle. So that has gone missing. I feel that had it continued, people would have found out that the kind of talent Pakistan has, India does not.”
“This is why India don’t want to play against us” – Abdul Razzaq
Continuing with his statement, Razzaq gave reference to previous Pakistan players and coompared them with their Indian counterparts. He said that Iman Khan & Javed Miandad are much better as compared to Sunil Gavaskar & Kapil Dev. Razzaq said:
“India too has a good team, I’m not saying anything otherwise. Even they have good players. But if you look at it potential-wise, we had Imran Khan; they had Kapil Dev. If you are to compare, then Imran Khan was a lot better. Then we had Wasim Akram. They did not have a player of that calibre.”
“We had Javed Miandad, and they had Gavaskar. There is no comparison. Then we had Inzamam, Yousuf, Younis, Shahid Afridi… they had Dravid, Sehwag. If you look at it overall, Pakistan have always produced good players. All these are big reasons. This is why India don’t want to play against us.”
Abdul Razzaq played for Pakistan since 1996 in 46 tests and scored 1946 runs with 100 wickets. He scored 5080 runs and took 269 wickets from 265 ODI matches. He also played 32 T20I matches to score 393 runs and took 20 wickets.
