A memorable draw in the Sydney test has set the stage for an exciting finish with every result possible going into the fourth test match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. While India’s hopes looked done and dusted, they made a solid comeback to earn themselves a hard-fought draw.

The injury-hit side which included the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Hanuma Vihari, Ravindra Jadeja showed the grit and grind throughout the Day 5 of the test. Their hard work bore fruit as they denied the Aussies a certain win.

Their efforts are being applauded all over the cricketing fraternity with a new name joining the list. Pakistan’s legendary pacer – Shoaib Akhtar heaped rich praises on the Indian team, saying that they are only a win away from their greatest ever test series triumph. He even went on to say that it could possibly be the biggest series win in the history of test cricket.

“Now at the final stages (of the series), I think India have got it in them to win this series. Again, a last little push, where they will face issues, they have several injury concerns, but the Indian bench strength has to believe that they can do it, they need to give one last effort and they can win the series,” Shoaib Akhtar was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.

“If from this point onwards, India goes on to win this series, then that will be a big big victory. According to me, it will be the biggest series win in Test history. Again, if India win this, and I think that they are going to win it, then this will be one of the finest Test series that India could have ever played or could play in the next week or so,” he added.

All credit goes to India

The visitors survived the lethal Aussie bowling, showing their gritty nature and determination which made it possible for them to bat 131 overs in their second innings. Talking about the same, the former Pakistan speedster praised the never-give up attitude of Rahane and Co. which helped them in snatching a draw from the jaws of defeat.

“I think all credit goes to India because they have shown a lot of guts, a lot of guts. The whole team, spinner, tailenders, fast bowlers, Bumrah has put in all his energy, even got himself injured, but did not let the series slip away,” Akhtar concluded.
