IND vs NZ 2021 [WATCH] Harshal Patel receives his maiden T20I cap from Ajit Agarkar

Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Harshal Patel makes his T20I debut for team India. Harshal replaced Mohammed Siraj, who faced a finger injury during the final over of the New Zealand innings in the first match.

This is also the only change in the side from the 1st T20I. India won the first game by five wickets and will look to seal the series in this match. It is a must-win match for New Zealand to keep the series alive.

Harshal Patel was rewarded with a call-up to the national side for this series on the back of a stellar show in the 2021 IPL. Picking 32 wickets in the season, he was the highest wicket-taker. Harshal played a key role in guiding RCB into the playoffs as well.

The right-arm pacer was handed his T20I cap by former India bowler and current commentator Ajit Agarkar. Harshal Patel has played 63 IPL matches, picking 78 wickets at an average of 23.18 and a strike-rate of 16.21. He has played a total of 116 T20s, picking 138 wickets. Harshal is also handy with the bat if needed lower down the order.

Harshal Patel will be keen to make an impact

With an opportunity to seal the series, this is an important game for India. Harshal Patel will be keen to make the most of his opportunity. After having a magnificent IPL season, it will be interesting to whether he can replicate his form in the national jersey right-away or not.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will have to win this game to avoid a series defeat right-away. They have made three changes to their eleven for this game. Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi and James Neesham come in.

Mohammed Siraj being monitored

During the first T20I, Siraj split his webbing on his left hand while fielding off his own bowling in the final over of the New Zealand innings. As a result, he made way for Harshal Patel to be awarded with his debut cap. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team will closely monitor his progress and we can only hope that he is fit and running soon enough.
