Team India will be starting their campaign in the T20 World Cup 2022 against arch-rivals Pakistan on 23 October 2022 at MCG, Melbourne. While Team India will be looking to take the revenge of the defeat from the T20 World Cup 2021 group stage, Pakistan would be looking to register their 2nd victory over India in World Cup.
International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the T20 World Cup 2022 schedule & qualification pathway. The 8th T20 World Cup will be played among 16 teams – 11 teams participated in T20 World Cup 2021 + 2 teams from Global qualifier A + 2 teams from Global qualifier B + Australia (host of the tournament).
The two semi-finals will be held in Sydney (November 9) and Adelaide (November 10). The grand final will be played at the MCG on November 13.
India will be playing along with Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh in Group 2. The other 2 qualifiers will be joining them after the First Round. The T20 World Cup 2022 will be a litmus test for Rohit Sharma as the captain of the team.
