IPL 2021 – “I Would Love To Be At Sunrisers Hyderabad Next Year” David Warner

Published on

Former SRH skipper and dashing left-handed opener – David Warner has said that he would love to represent the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) once again in the next edition IPL 2022. SRH had a terrible season in IPL 2021 as they got the wooden spoon with only 3 wins from 14 matches.

David Warner, who was bought by the franchise way back in 2014, was appointed as the captain of the side in 2015. Under his leadership SRH reached new heights as they won their lone IPL trophy in 2016. Warner remained as one of the most successful batsman for the SRH team.

After a poor run in IPL 2021, David Warner was first sacked as the captain of the side and later on lost his place in the playing 11. However, that didn’t helped the team as SRH finished at the bottom of the points table.

After SRH’s last game against MI which capped a dismal season for them, David Warner posted his best memories with the franchise. Warner thanked the franchise & the loyal fans. Later on while speaking to Sports Today, Warner mentioned;

My Instagram post was a special one because you don’t know what’s happening next year. Any time I post something on my social media, it’s either my family or people that mean the most to me and SunRisers have given me that opportunity to lead,”

“The fans have been great, we won an IPL trophy while I was there, a great bunch of guys that I have played with and we don’t know what’s going to happen next year. There are two new teams, there is going to be a big auction and a lot of that is not up to us.”

Hyderabad’s my second home – Warner

David Warner also revealed that he might not be retained by SRH team in the mega auction for the IPL 2022. Warner said;

Sometimes, you get that feeling that you are not going to be retained with little signs that you can see around the group. From my perspective, I can see the writing was on the wall and it was an appropriate time to say thank you.

Hyderabad’s my second home, they have treated my family with great respect. Every time I have visited there, people want to give us hugs, speak to the kids and that is the most important thing to me in life. I am grateful for those memories and look forward to what’s going to happen in the future,” Warner concluded.
