Delhi Capitals pacer Ishant Sharma missed the team’s season opener against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium due to an injury.
As per a report in IANS, he missed the game on Saturday due to a niggle, which forced him to sit on the bench. The experienced pacer has suffered several injuries in the past too, which saw him being ruled out of the previous edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Sharma has played 90 IPL matches up to date, having picked up 72 wickets at an economy rate of 8.09. The 32-year-old fast bowler has a five-wicket haul to his name as well.
Delhi Capitals choose Avesh Khan, Tom Curran, and Chris Woakes in their playing XI for the game against Chennai Super Kings. Surprisingly, they planned to keep Umesh Yadav on the bench.
South African duo Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje missed the team’s opening IPL fixture after not having completed their quarantine thus far. Both players will join Delhi Capitals ahead of their upcoming fixture.
Delhi Capitals lock horns with Rajasthan Royals in their upcoming IPL fixture
Delhi Capitals will go up against Rajasthan Royals in the second fixture of the IPL 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium on April 15.
The Capitals won their season opener against MS Dhoni & Co and will look to extend their fine run in the league with a victory against the Royals.
Rajasthan, on the other hand, are yet to play a game so far this season. They will start their campaign against Punjab Kings on April 12 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
