IPL 2021 – Virat Kohli scripts history, becomes 1st Indian cricketer to reach 10,000 runs in T20 cricket

RCB skipper – Virat Kohli reached another huge milestone during the match against Mumbai Indians on September 26. RCB won the match quite comfortably by 54 runs as MI lost all their 10 wickets for just 54 runs after a brisk opening stand of 57 runs.

Playing in his 314th T20 match (Domestic, International & Franchise), Virat Kohli became the 5th player overall and 2nd Asian player to reach the coveted milestone. He pulled Jasprit Bumrah for a six in 4th over to reach the milestone after RCB were asked to bat first.

After making another cracking half-century in the match, Kohli reached 10,038 runs and surpassed David Warner (10,019 runs) to move to the fourth-spot on the list of highest run-getters in T20 Cricket.

The elite list is topped by the Universe Boss – Chris Gayle who is having 14,275 runs on his name. He is the lone cricketer to score more than 20+ centuries in T20 cricket. Gayle is followed by Kieron Pollard who is second on the list with 11,202 runs. The third player in the list is Pakistan’s legend Shoaib Malik who has scored 10,832 runs.

Earlier Virat Kohli become the first player in IPL history to reach the 6,000 runs mark. He also played 200 matches for a single franchise. Kohli also holds the record for scoring most runs in a single IPL season with 973 runs in IPL 2016. Few days back, he also announced that he will be captaining RCB for the last season in IPL 2021.
