In yet another awful performance in IPL 2022, defending champions CSK were unable to open their account in 4th match consecutively. Sunrisers Hyderabad cantered to a massive victory by 8 wickets and 14 balls remaining.
Chasing a target of 155 runs, SRH started brilliantly. Opener Abhishek Sharma played a gem of an innings and scored his first half-century in IPL 2022. Williamson & Abhishek added 89 runs for the first wicket.
Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 75 runs off 50 deliveries and was declared as Player of the match. Rahul Tripathi scored 39 off just 15 deliveries to take SRH to first victory in IPL 2022.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Williamson invited CSK to bat first. After the loss of Robin Uthappa in 4th over of the innings, CSK batting lineup couldn’t get going. They keep losing wickets at regular intervals.
Moeen Ali was the top scorer with 48 runs off 35 deliveries while Rayudu scored 27 and Ravindra Jadeja scored 23. CSK could reach 154 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets.
SRH bowlers – Washington Sundar & T Natarajan took 2 wickets each while Bhuvneshwar, Jansen and Markram took 1 wickets apiece.
With the victory, SRH got 2 points from 3 matches while CSK remains winless for the 4th matches consecutively. This is the first time since 2010 that CSK has lost 4 matches in a row.
