In the 8th match of IPL 2022, Andre Russell & Umesh Yadav earned the Orange & Purple caps and helped KKR register a dominant victory over PBKS. While Russell brought back his monstrous sixes it was Umesh Yadav who rattled PBKS batting lineup earlier. Umesh was declared as Player of the Match for his 23/4.
Andre Russell scored 70* runs off just 31 balls with 8 monstrous sixes and 2 boundaries on a pitch where everyone else seems to be struggling. With Russell’s superb batting KKR chased down the target of 138 runs in just 14.3 overs.
Earlier, Rahul Chahar’s double-wicket maiden over brought back PBKS into the game which reduced to KKR 51/4 in 7th over. However Dre-Russ immediately switched his gears and played an unforgettable innings.
After winning the toss, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer invited PBKS to bat first. In the clash of hard-hitting sides, Umesh Yadav gave first blow to PBKS in his first over by dismissing Mayank Agarwal.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa played a little cameo and scored 31 off just 9 balls. However, once he departed, PBKS batting was left in tatters as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Umesh Yadav was the chief tormentor for PBKS as he too 4 wickets for just 23 runs.
With this victory KKR went on to the top of the points table. They now have 2 victories out of 3 matches and 4 points.
