In the 12th match of IPL 2022, Avesh Khan was the standout bowler for Lucknow Super Giants as Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to chase down the target of 170 runs. Avesh was declared as the Player of the Match for his incredible bowling spell which completely derailed SRH’s chase.
First Avesh got the prized scalp of SRH’s skipper – Kane Williamson in his first over to jolt the chase. In his next over, he dismissed other opener – Abhishek Sharma with a good change in pace.
Avesh Khan returns with SRH’s chase completely setup for the final push in the death overs. They required 27 runs from 17 balls with 6 wickets in hand and Pooran & Washington Sundar at the crease. Despite a first ball six, Avesh dismissed Nicholas Pooran first followed by the first ball duck for Abdul Samad.
Andrew Tye & Jason Holder bowled the last two overs beautifully to close the match for LSG with a victory.
Earlier, Kane Williamson – SRH skipper won the toss and opted to field first. Washington Sundar dominated the powerplay with the wickets of Quinton de Kock & Evin Lewis. LSG were soon reduced to 27/3 within powerplay as Shepherd dismissed Manish Pandey.
However, KL Rahul stands tall at one end as he got good support from Deepak Hooda. Hooda was severe on young – Umran Malik from the start and raced away to his half-century in just 31 balls.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar & T Natarajan executed their yorkers perfectly as the duo gave away just 51 runs in their 8 overs. Ayush Badoni & Jason Holder collected 17 runs off last over from Romario Shepherd to take LSG close to 170 run mark which ultimately proved enough for SRH batting lineup.
