In match 30 of IPL 2022, Kolkata Knight Riders almost chased down the highest total of IPL 2022 as Rajasthan Royals won by by 7 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal took the first hat-trick of IPL 2022 by dismissing Shreyas Iyer, Shivam mavi & Pat Cummins in his final over which brought 4 wickets.
KKR were cruising towards victory with only 40 runs required off last 4 overs and both Iyer’s at the crease. Venkatesh Iyer tried to take on Chahal on the first ball but couldn’t connect and Samson completed the stumping.
On the fourth ball of the over, Chahal trapped KKR Skipper Shreyas Iyer plumb in front of the wickets. Iyer tried to take help of DRS but the Hawkeye returned all 3 reds. On the next ball, Shivam Mavi tried to clear the long on boundary. But the top-edge flies only to Riyan Parag standing at Long-on position.
On the final ball of his over, Pat Cummins – hero of KKR vs MI Match, tried a cover drive but edged it behind the wickets and Sanju Samson completed another good catch. Yuzvendra Chahal completed the 21st hat-trick in IPL history and 5 wicket haul in the match.
However, Umesh Yadav struck Trent Boult in next over 6,2,6,4 in a 20 run over to bring life back in KKR’s chase. However, Prasidh Krishna & Obed McCoy bowled the final two nerves and held their nerves to close the curtains.
The chase was started with a first ball run-out of Sunil Narine but Aaron Finch proved his worth in T20 cricket. Finch scored 58 runs off 28 deliveries and added 107 runs for 2nd wicket with Shreyas Iyer.
Earlier, Jos Buttler continued his sublime form in IPL 2022 by scoring his second century of the season. Buttler scored 103 runs off 61 deliveries and helped RR to score 217/5 in 20 overs.
Yuzvendra Chahal becomes the Player of the match for his 5 wicket haul and hat-trick in crucial stage of the game. With the victory Rajasthan Royals jumped to 2nd place in points table with 8 points while Kolkata Knight Riders are struggling at 6th place with 6 points from 7 matches.
