In match 29 of IPL 2022, defending champions Chennai Super Kings were handed a defeat by Vintage David Miller classic knock. Chasing a target of 170 runs on a difficult pitch and without Hardik Pandya in playing 11, Miller scored 95 runs alone as GT chased down the target on penultimate ball of the match.

With the victory Gujarat Titans remained at the top of the points table, while CSK remained at 9th place with 5 losses from 6 matches. At a time Gujarat Titans were struggling with 16 for 3 and then 87 for 5 but still David Miller took them over the victory line.

Miller gave heavy beating to Chris Jordan as the fast bowler leaked away 58 runs off his 3.5 overs quota. He was even caught in the final over off Jordan but the umpire declared it a no ball for waist high full toss which gave Miller another chance.

Dwayne Bravo kept his cool while bowling all 4 overs from one end (13,15,17 & 19) and gave away only 23 runs. In his final 2 balls, Bravo dismissed Rashid Khan & Alzarri Joseph to dent GT even further. However, David Miller was in top form of his life and struck 13 runs required off final over.

With 48 runs required off last 3 overs, it was CSK’ match in pocket. But GT stand-in skipper Rashid Khan tore apart Jordan in 18th over. Rashid hit 6,6,4,6 in a 25 run over to reduce the equation down to 23 off last 2 overs.

Earlier, Ruturaj Gaikwad & Ambati Rayudu take out the best batting out of them to take CSK to 169 runs in 20 overs. Ruturaj scored his first half-century of the season while Rayudu scored 46 off 31 deliveries. Ruturaj scored 73 off 48 balls with 5 boundaries and 5 maximums.

David Miller was declared as Player of the match for his excellent single handed effort to take Gujarat Titans over the victory line.
