In the 19th match of IPL 2022, Delhi Capitals register a thumping victory over Kolkata Knight Riders. After posting a huge total of 215 runs, DC restricted KKR to 171 runs to win the match by 44 runs.
Apart from skipper Shreyas Iyer, none of the KKR batters were able to score any significant contribution. Nitish Rana scored 30 while Venkatesh Iyer scored 18 runs.
There were a lot of hopes from Andre Russell but he doesn’t get enough fireworks against DC bowlers. He was dismissed for 24 runs off 21 balls off Shardul Thakur’s bowling.
Shreyas Iyer scored an excellent half-century off 32 balls. Kuldeep Yadav & Khaleel Ahmed were standout bowlers for Delhi Capitals as they took 7 wickets combined. Kuldeep was especially excellent with his spell as he took crucial wickets to leave KKR out of contest.
Earlier KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and invited DC to bat first. Delhi Capitals openers – Prithvi Shaw & David Warner provided a dream start to DC by adding 93 runs in just 8.4 overs.
Prithvi Shaw was intially more aggressive and reached his half-century in just 27 balls. This was his second half-century of IPL 2022. David Warner also scored his first half-century of IPL 2022 in just 35 balls. Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant & Shardul Thakur played aggressive cameos to lift Delhi Capitals to 215/5 in 20 overs.
Sunil Narine was once again the standout bowler for KKR as he picked up 2 wickets for just 22 runs in his spell. Andre Russel, Umesh Yadav & Varun Chakravarthy took one wicket a piece.
