In the 10th match of IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans (GT) held their nerve to defend 171 runs successfully as Delhi Capitals (DC) fell short by 14 runs. While Lockie Ferguson stars with the bat with his spell of 28/4, it was opener Shubman Gill who laid the foundation for GT. Gill scored 84 runs off just 46 deliveries.
With 2nd victory in a row, Gujarat Titans have started the season on a good note. Lockie Ferguson was handed with Player of the Match award as he derailed the DC chase with his double-wicket overs as he finished his spell with 28/4.
Delhi Capitals required only 54 runs in last 6 overs with Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell on the crease. But Ferguson was called by Hardik Pandya for a 3rd over earlier than he might have prepared. Ferguson delivered immediately as he dismissed Rishabh Pant on first ball and Axar Patel on penultimate ball. After that Mohammed Shami & Rashid Khan choked the upcoming DC batters as GT won by 14 runs.
Earlier, Rishabh Pant won the toss and asked GT to bat first. However, Gujarat Titans opener – Shubman Gill played an elegant innings as he scored 84 runs off 46 deliveries. He almost single-handedly carried GT innings altogether.
Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi Capitals as he bowled his quota for 23/3. Hardik Pandya also bowled his full quota of 4 overs for 22 runs and a first ball wicket of Tim Siefert. It was Hardik’s first IPL wicket since 2019.
With this victory Gujarat Titans moved to 3rd place in the Point Table.
