In the 11th match of IPL 2022, it was all about Liam Livingstone allround show. Punjab Kings register an emphatic victory over Chennai Super Kings by 54 runs. CSK’s poor run in IPL 2022 continued as they lost there 3rd match in a row even after winning the toss and opting to chase.

Liam Livingstone – the Allrounder, setup Punjab Kings victory first with his boundary-fuelled 60 from 32 ball. By the time he was dismissed in 11 over, PBKS were already oncourse for a huge score with 115 runs on board. However they added just 70 runs in the last 10 overs which took them to 180 runs.

Mukesh Chaudhary, who dismissed Mayank Agarwal on his second ball of the match, bore the brunt of Livingstone’s assault. It was soon followed up by the excellent presence of mind from MS Dhoni to catch Rajapaksa short of crease.

The chase for CSK started started poorly as last years Orange Cap – Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed in 2nd over. Vaibhav Arora – the debutant for PBKS grab all the attentions with his excellent swing bowling control. He took 2 wickets for just 21 runs from his spell including the wickets of Moeen Ali & Robin Uthappa.

CSK Captain Ravindra Jadeja soon went back to pavilion as he inside edged Arshdeep Singh’s ball to his stumps. Ambati Rayudu was dismissed by superb bouncer from Odean Smith to leave CSK reeling at 36/5 in 8th over.

Shivam Dube & MS Dhoni stopping the falling of wickets as Dube played a counterattacking knock. He scored his half-century off just 26 balls with 5 boundaries and 3 sixes. But Livingstone once again came to limelight by dismissing Shivam Dube & Dwayne Bravo off successive deliveries. His double-wicket over almost sealed the deal for PBKS.

MS Dhoni was soon dismissed by an excellent DRS call by PBKS debutant wicketkeeper – Jitesh Sharma. Rahul Chahar bowled a slider on leg side which was signalled as wide by the umpire, however, Jitesh playing in his first match convinced Mayank to go for DRS. The umpire review detects a spike with the ultra-edge as Dhoni was dismissed for 23 runs off 28 balls.

Livingstone was declared as Player of the Match. With this victory PBKS moved to 4th place in the points table with 4 points from 3 matches. CSK, MI & SRH are reeling at bottom half of the table while RR, KKR & GT are at the top 3 positions.
