In match 25 of IPL 2022, Sunrisers Hyderabad overcame the mighty challenge of Kolkata Knight Riders to register their 3rd victory of the season. Rahul Tripathi & Aiden Markram were the stars for SRH with the bat as the Orange Army chased down the target of 176 runs with ease.
Rahul Tripathi scored his half-century off just 21 balls and Markram played a well-supported innings. Tripathi went on to score 71 runs off just 37 deliveries and was dismissed by Andre Russell in 15th over.
Aiden Markram scored his 2nd half-century in IPL career in just 31 deliveries as he took Sunrisers Hyderabad to victory in 18th over. Markram remained unbeaten on 68* off 36 deliveries. Rahul Tripathi was declared as Player of the Match.
Triapthi targeted KKR’s mystery spinner – Varun Chakravarthy from the first over. Varun gave away 45 runs in just 3 overs as was torn apart by Tripathi & Markram.
Earlier after winning the toss, SRH skipper Kane Williamson asked KKR to bat first. Both teams made changes to the playing 11 as KKR made 3 changes while SRH made only one change.
T Natarajan & Jansen reduced KKR to 31/3 in 5th over. KKR Skipper – Shreyas Iyer & Nitish Rana stabilized the innings but Iyer was undone by superb Umran Malik yorker.
Andre Russell provided the final flourish as he remained unbeaten on 49* off just 25 deliveries. T Natarajan took 3 wickets for 37 runs while Umran Malik took 2 wickets for 27 runs.
With the victory SRH has jumped to 7th place in IPL Points table with 3 wins out of 5 matches. On the other hand, KKR moved to 4th place but they have played 6 matches.
