In match 20 of IPL 2022, Rajasthan Royals won a narrow game against Lucknow Super Giants by 3 runs. Chasing a target of 166 runs, LSG could reach only 162 runs losing the match by a narrow margin.
Marcus Stoinis failed to take 15 runs from the final over bowled by debutant Kuldip Sen. Yuzvendra Chahal won Player of the match award for his incredible bowling performance of 41/4.
LSG required 34 runs off last 2 overs and RR skipper handed over the penultimate over to Prasidh Krishna. Stoinis tonked Krishna to collect 19 runs of the over but debutant Kuldip Sen showed great nerves at death.
Earlier, Trent Boult gave a perfect start to RR by dismissing LSG captain – KL Rahul for a golden duck on first ball. After a wide delivery, Boult trapped K Gowtham in front of wickets to leave LSG reeling at 1/2. Prasidh Krishna then dismissed Jason Holder to leave LSG at 14/3 in 4th over.
For RR, Shimron Hetmyer played an aggressive innings and scored 59 off 36 deliveries. Hetmyer single handedly took RR to a respectable score of 165/6 in 20 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin became the first batter in IPL history to retired out himself after scoring 28 runs off 23 balls.
Jos Buttler could only score 13 runs off 11 while Padikkal scored 29 off 29 deliveries. Rassie van der Dussen can only hit a boundary in his first match of IPL 2022.
