IPL Auction 2022 Live Telecast: Where and when to watch IPL retention, live streaming and channel details

The IPL Auction 22 is not far away and the preparations are already in full flow by the franchises. Eight existing teams will submit the list of players they have retained ahead of the auction to the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).

Some of the big names such as Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma along with few others by every team are all but confirmed retentions. However, the retention day is set to bring some big surprises as well with key names likely to be left out.

As learnt from various reports, Punjab Kings, for starters, have parted ways with KL Rahul. The star batter is most likely to be acquired by one of the two new teams before the IPL mega auction. The likes of David Warner, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan among others are some of the big names set to be released by franchises. That said, the IPL 2022 mega auction is going to be as interesting and exciting as ever.

Each franchise is allowed a maximum of four retentions. Interestingly, there will be no Right-to-match (RTM) in use for the IPL 2022 mega auction. Thus, the teams cannot retain any player during the auction once released. Further, the two new teams have been allowed to pick three players before the mega auction. Rs 42 Crores shall be deducted from the purse if a franchise retains 4 players. 3 retentions result in a deduction of Rs 33 Crore while Rs 24 Crore will be reduced for two retentions. Only Rs 14 Crore will be paid to a player if he is the only retention made by the franchise.
