IPL Points Table Rules

According to the IPL Points table rules, each team winning a match will be awarded with 2 points. The team on the losing side will not be awarded any points. In case the match is abandoned, or no result, both teams will be awarded with one point each.

After completion of league phase, top 4 teams will qualify for the playoff stage. In case the teams are being tied on the points table, higher number of victories will be considered. However, if the wins are also equal then NRR (Net Run Rate) will be considered.

The teams finishing in Top 2 places will get an extra shot at playing the finals by playing Qualifiers 1 and 2. The winner of Qualifier 1 will go to the Finals directly while the losing team will get another chance in Qualifier 2. The 3rd and 4th place teams will get one knockout match only – Eliminator. The winner of Eliminator match will go to Qualifier 2 while the losing team will be knocked out of the tournament.
