Former Indian cricketer and renowned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar believes that Ravindra Jadeja should bat ahead of skipper MS Dhoni in CSK’s game against the defending champions Mumbai Indians later tonight.
Jadeja was in top form in the first half of the IPL 2021 which took place in India. He scored 161 runs at a strike rate of 161 during that phase and has certainly improved as a batsman in limited-overs cricket.
CSK had a forgettable IPL campaign in 2020 and their skipper MS Dhoni didn’t score much. Even in this season, Dhoni struggled in the little time he came out to bat. But the addition of Moeen Ali has done wonders for the men in yellow as he along with Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle-order. They have made sure MS Dhoni’s batting was not needed by the CSK.
Jadeja used to come in ahead of Dhoni in the batting order before the IPL was superseded and Manjrekar talking on ESPNCricinfo said the pattern should continue. Sam Curran is unavailable for Sunday’s game and there are injury concerns to Bravo, Faf Du Plessis.
So Manjrekar added that CSK should go with 2 pacers, Josh Hazlewood and Lungi Ngidi along with Imran Tahir. Ian Bishop who is also part of the show opined the same.
“Jadeja should bat ahead of MS Dhoni. I think so (CSK will do well) because their approach has changed and Moeen Ali and Sam Curran have become impact players so they should perform better than the last time we saw them in UAE. I think Moeen Ali, they should get both their fast bowlers in Hazlewood and Lungi Ngidi. And if there is a little bit of turn, Imran Tahir,” Manjrekar said.
