Johannesburg Super Kings – the CSA T20 Challenge tournament franchise, owned by Chennai Super Kings owners, have signed Faf du Plessis as the skipper of the team. The inaugural edition of the CSA T20 challenge tournament will kickstart in January February 2023.
Faf du Plessis will be earning a salary of $375,000 as he is one of the direct signings for the Johannesburg Super Kings team. Stephen Fleming – the head coach of CSK is appointed as the head coach for the Johannesburg Super Kings team. The franchise also acquired Moeen Ali – who is part of the CSK squad since IPL 2021 for $400,000.
Du Plessis has appeared in 100 matches with the Chennai Super Kings in two spells, from 2011 to 2015 and again from 2018 to 2021. Moeen, too, joined the Chennai Super Kings in 2021.
The other signings include Mahesh Theekshana ($200,000), West Indies allrounder Romario Shepherd ($175,000) and South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee ($50,000), the latter as a development player.
The tournament will be attracting a lot of interest from cricket fans as it will be clashing with UAE International League T20, Big Bash League 2023 & Pakistan Super League.
