Rinku Singh & Nitish Rana helped Kolkata Knight Riders break the five match losing streak against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. Rinku Singh came to the crease when KKR required 61 runs in 7.1 overs. He scored a calm & composed innings of 42* off just 23 deliveries to take KKR over victory line.
Nitish Rana also played another sensible knock in dismal KKR batting lineup. Rana scored an unbeaten 48 runs off 37 balls. Skipper Shreyas Iyer scored 34 runs off 32 balls as Finch & Baba Indrajith failed at top of the order.
More importantly, Nitish Rana & Rinku Singh just don’t let RR spinners get any wickets, they also attacked both of them. Rana scored 23 runs off 14 balls from Ashwin as both spinners returned with combined figures of 64/0 in 8 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal – Purple cap holder gave 31 runs off 4 overs.
Earlier, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and invited RR to bat first. Rajasthan Royals made one change in playing 11 with bringing Karun Nair in place of Daryl Mitchell. Kolkata Knight Riders made 2 changes with Anukul Roy & Shivam Mavi coming inside for Harshit Rana & Venkatesh Iyer.
Umesh Yadav provided a breakthrough in powerplay to KKR by dismissing Devdutt Padikkal. Tim Southee then dismissed the Orange Cap holder – Jos Buttler for 22 runs off 25 balls in 9th over.
RR skipper Sanju Samson continued his good form and scored 54 runs off 49 deliveries. Shimron Hetmyer provided the late fireworks to take Rajasthan Royals to 152/5 in 20 overs.
With the victory KKR got 8 points from 10 matches in IPL points table and is placed on 6th place. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have got 12 points from 10 matches and placed at 3rd place.
