Australian player Mitchell Marsh extended his contract with the Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Perth Scorchers to the next four years, the club confirmed on Monday, January 11.
Marsh officially penned down the deal with the club on a contract extension and is set to wear the orange jersey for at least 14 seasons. He’s currently with the Scorchers taking part in BBL season 10. His team is back on the winning ways after winning 4 matches on trought.
Thrilled to be with Scorchers
In his ten years with the Scorchers he has won 3 BBL titles with the most successful franchise in the history of the BBL. It’s easy for him to make this call as he hails from Western Australia.
“I’m thrilled to be re-committing to the Scorchers for the next four BBL seasons. I’m a very proud West Australian, I love representing the Scorchers and playing in front of our home crowds in Perth,” Marsh said in an official statement.
Contract prolongation- An easy decision
“We’ve been a very successful club over a long period of time, the support we get from our fans is incredible, so it was an easy decision to sign on for another four years,” he added.
He’s the leading run-scorer for the Scorchers with his current tally of 1632 runs at an average of 38.85. Junior Marsh surpassed his brother Shaun Marsh to achieve this feat. It’s yet to be seen if he wants to lead the club for the next season or he’ll let Ashton Turner to take the reigns of the team.
“He’s an important player and we’ve seen over the past couple of games how much influence he has in matches,” said Scorchers coach Adam Voges on Marsh. “We know how proud and passionate Mitch is about playing for the Scorchers, he brings a wealth of talent and experience to our team and is a much-loved member of our squad.”
