Former Pakistan player Danish Kaneria believes former Indian captain and the legend MS Dhoni would prefer to coach than commentate after hanging up his boots from IPL.
However, the former Pakistani spinner did not explain the reasons but he said that he felt Dhoni would soon enter the world of coaching as well. In a Q&A session on YouTube, a fan asked Kaneria if MS Dhoni would choose to become a coach or a commentator after his retirement from the Indian Premier League.
“I think MS Dhoni would prefer coaching over commentary. I definitely think Dhoni will soon enter the world of coaching and will start a new career in that field,” Kaneria replied.
Notably, MS Dhoni has announced his retirement from international cricket already on August 15, 2020. But one of the best cricketing brains, as well as a wicket-keeper batsman, has continued to play for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL as well. And, after a rather forgettable season in the United Arab Emirates last year, he led his team quite well this season and they were placed second in the points table before the league got suspended due to COVID-19.
The Chennai Super Kings team have 10 points to their name from seven matches they have played and they are expected to carry forward the momentum in the second phase of the cash-rich T20 league as well when it will resume in the UAE during the September-October window.
However, it will be interesting to see how CSK will perform in the same vein during the second phase of IPL 2021. According to the reports, they will likely have a training camp in Chepauk next month as well.
