Paul Stirling re-signs with Middlesex for T20 Blast

Irish all-rounder Paul Stirling has re-signed with English team Middlesex as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh for the upcoming edition of the T20 Blast. He’ll represent Middlesex for their first five group stage matches or the 2021 edition of the T20 Blast.

He replaces Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh in the squad as Marsh has been called up to represent Australia when they tour West Indies in July.

Paul Stirling has represented Middlesex in the past between 2010 to 2019, having scored 2246 runs in 89 T20 Blast matches. He’s been a long time associated player with the club and will provide them with his service for a short stint once again.

Managing Director of Cricket at Middlesex, Angus Fraser was all in praise for the Irish all-rounder. He was sad that the club will miss the services of Mitchell Marsh but was glad to have a strong and clean striker of the ball, Paul Stirling back into the side.

“Losing Mitch Marsh is obviously a blow, but if a team is looking for a strong, clean striker of a cricket ball, Paul is highly qualified to fill the role,” said Angus Fraser, the MD of Cricket at Middlesex.

“Paul made a huge impression on Middlesex members and supporters during his initial time with the Club and it will be great to see him once again wearing a Middlesex shirt and representing the club,” he added.

Mitchell Marsh might not return to the Middlesex side after completing the West Indies tour due to the strict quarantine rules and travel restrictions. The club is expected to make an announcement of a replacement player for the latter half of the tournament in due course.

Paul Stirling was glad to be a part of the Middlesex season once again

“I have such fond memories and many friends within the club and I am excited to entertain the public once more. I am looking to put on my best performances for the world to see, and hopefully, a successful stint will create further opportunities, potentially in the Hundred, and further afield, as I would like to test myself in all competitions globally,” Ireland all-rounder Paul Stirling said.
