Lahore Qalandars are the Pakistan Super League 2022 champions. Mohammad Hafeez played one of the finest performance in his PSL career to help Qalandars register their maiden PSL title win. In the finals, Lahore beat Multan Sultans comfortably by 42 runs.
Shaheen Shah Afridi – skipper of Lahore Qalandars lead the team wonderfully to the title. Defending champions Multan Sultans dominated the whole tournament once again but faltered in the finals.
Afridi won the toss and opted to bat first against Multan Sultans but soon the decision proved to be wrong as Lahore was reduced to 25/3 in 4.2 overs.But Mohammad Hafeez played the role of the saviour scored 69 off 46 balls.
In the death overs, Harry Brook and David Wiese scored 43 runs off last 2.4 overs to lift Lahore Qalandars to 180/5. Wiese scored 28* (8) same score as he scored in Eliminator 2 while Brooks scored 41* (22).
While chasing a target of 181 runs, Multan Sultans started aggressively but Hafeez clean bowled Mohammad Rizwan. After that Lahore Qalandars got regular breakthroughs to jolt Multan Sultans.
Shaheen Shah Afridi took 3 wickets while Hafeez and Zaman Khan took 2 wickets each. David Wiese took the last wicket to end up a perfect victory for Lahore Qalandars. Hafeez was adjudged as Man of the Match and Rizwan got the Man of the Series award.
