The 7th edition of the Pakistan Super League(PSL) will likely be played in January-February 2022 instead of its usual slot. PCB confirmed this on Saturday after consulting with all the 6 PSL franchisees.
Since the start of PSL in 2016, the league has been held in the February-March period. But in 2022, Australia is expected to tour the country in that time frame. So, the PCB was forced to work out schedules such that it won’t the historic Australia series. It was either before the series or after in the month of April.
With IPL happening at the same time, they have decided to host PSL in January to avoid a clash with the marquee league. However, there is a catch in this window as well as the Big Bash League in Australia runs around the same time and there could be issues with the overseas stars’ availability.
All the games will be held between Karachi and Lahore, which will host 17 matches each. The final will take place at the Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore. The schedule will be drawn taking into account the weather conditions in Pakistan at that time. It is being said that the first set of games will be played in Karachi and then they will move to Lahore.
