Sarfaraz Ahmed backs Pakistan to win the T20 World Cup 2021

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed believes the current Pakistan team can win the upcoming T20 World Cup and also named India, New Zealand, and England as the top contenders for the title.

In an exclusive interview with ARY News, the wicketkeeper-batsman talked about his career, ambitions, and Pakistan’s chances in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

Pakistan on track for a World title, says Sarfaraz

‘’We can definitely win the T20 World Cup. Other than Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and England are going to play the semi-final I believe. All of them have strong sides but we also have a very realistic chance of winning the tournament after the way the team performed in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Pakistan is right on track and needs a little improvement in specific areas to do well in the mega event,” Sarfaraz Ahmed said.

Prior to his departure to Abu Dhabi to take part in the remainder of the PSL 2021, the Quetta Gladiators skipper welcomed the new signings like Faf Du Plessis and Andre Russell into the team and said he’s hopeful that the new recruits will help in the team’s success. Apart from foreign players, Sarfaraz also pinned high hopes from local talent such as Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Hasnain, and young Azam Khan.

“Du Plessis has been top of his form recently and can play a major role in our success. Andre Russell has been a great addition to our side, who can easily make the game one-sided. Among locals, Hasnain is in great form as he was the leading wicket-taker in the Zimbabwe series. Nawaz’s record in the UAE has been great while Azam is working hard on his fitness and improving his batting. These players can be beneficial for us,” he added.
