Australia cricket team defeated New Zealand by 8 wickets in the grand finale of T20 World Cup 2021 to regiser their first title in the format. David Warner & Mitchell Marsh became the heroes for Australia in batting with their superb half-centuries. While in the bowling barring Mitchell Starc all bowlers contributed splendidly.
New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson scored the best ever innings in T20 World Cup finals as he was dismissed for 85 runs. But it was Williamson inninigs which took New Zealand to a competitive total of 172 runs.
Australia weren’t among the favorites when T20 World Cup started. But David Warner – who was declared as Player of the Series, and rejuvenated bowlers take them to their first ever title triumph.
Especially Josh Hazlewood who took 3 wickets for just 16 runs was one of the standout bowlers for Australia in the whole tournament. While Adam Zampa & Pat Cummins also contributed their part.
After winning the toss, Aaron Finch invited New Zealand to bat first. After a sedate start, Hazlewood dismissed Daryl Mitchell with a legcutter which was well caught by Matthew Wade.
On the other end, Martin Guptill was struggling to get any timing on the ball. His struggle ended in 12 over off Adam Zampa after scoring 28 off 35 balls. His innings proved to be vital in New Zealand’s loss as Australia chased down the total comfortably.
David Warner scored 53 off 38 deliveries while Mitchell Marsh remained unbeaten at 73* off 50 deliveries. Glenn Maxwell played a reverse swipe off Southee for a boundary to secure the title for Australia.
Marsh was named as the Player of the Match for his innings while David Warner was named as Player of the Series.
