Former India opener – Wasim Jaffer recently appointed as the head coach for Uttarakhand cricket team for the upcoming Ranji Trophy. However, the domestic cricket stalwart made a shocking claim when he rated Virat Kohli as better ODI player than Sachin Tendulkar.
In a recent interview, CricTracker, Wasim Jaffer was asked to pick the best white-ball cricketer for India out of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Jaffer who played 30 test matches for India, gave a direct answer and picked Virat Kohli.
Sachin Tendulkar – Master Blaster is considered as the best batsman produced by India in modern times. Sachin holds all the batting record in both formats of the game. He is the only player in the world to score 100 international centuries with 49 in ODI cricket and 51 in test cricket.
Virat Kohli – Indian captain is the front-runner to go past Sachin’s records with his run making ability. Kohli already amassed 11867 runs in ODI career with 43 centuries. Kohli is still 32 years old with still a lot of cricket left in him and is assumed to go past Sachin’s tally of 100 international centuries.
Sourav Ganguly was the best captain – Wasim Jaffer
Wasim jaffer rated BCCI President and former Indian captain – Sourav Ganguly as the best captain for India. Jaffer said Ganguly was the one who rebuild the team after the match fixing scandal jolted in 2000. Jaffer said:
“Sourav Ganguly was the one who made the team after 2000. He had the temperament, backed the players and gave them a longer rope. He made Sehwag open the batting and brought players like Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh.”
Jaffer also Brett Lee as the toughest bowler compared to Pakistan’s ‘Rawalpindi Express’ – Shoaib Akhtar. Jaffer said that the former Australian fast bowler was more accurate than Shoaib AKhtar.
