Virat Kohli delighted to have ‘Mentor’ MS Dhoni for the T20 World Cup

Indian skipper Virat Kohli believes MS Dhoni’s inclusion as a mentor will help the Indian team massively in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), last month, announced former India and World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni as the Indian team’s mentor for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

While addressing the media prior to the start of the multi nation tournament, Kohli spoke on the advantages that the Indian team has with Dhoni being the mentor of the team.

“He’s (MS Dhoni) quite excited about getting back in this environment. He has always been a mentor for all of us when we were starting our careers at the time he played and now he has the same opportunity to continue the same again. Especially for the younger guys who are in the early stages of their careers, just the experience that he has gained over the years and having conversations with him about the game,” said Virat Kohli.

Kohli further said that Dhoni’s practical inputs and intricate details will help the team massively in the ICC T20 World Cup.

“Such practical inputs and such intricate details of where the game is going and where we can improve. He makes a difference when he is in a leadership role in any team, absolutely delighted to have him in this environment. He will certainly boost the morale of the team further,” added Kohli.

MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings to their fourth IPL title on October 15 after beating KKR in the final. He’s set to join the Indian team as they’ll start with preparations with an aim to win the second T20 World title.

India will kick off their campaign against arch rivals Pakistan on October 24. The men in blue will be playing two warm up matches, against England on October 18 and Australia on October 20.
