Shahid Afridi Joins Quetta Gladiator For His Farewell PSL Season
Boom-Boom has already announced that it will be his final season in the PSL. Afridi has already been retired from international cricket but he still is ever-present in the T20 league. However, the former Pakistan skipper expressed his desire to represent Quetta Gladiators in his last season.
Talking about his switch to the Gladiators, Shahid Afridi expressed his desire to win another PSL trophy.
“I am excited to join Quetta Gladiators, a side that has had a roller-coaster ride in the past few events despite winning the title in 2019. In my final PSL event, it will be my dream and wish to sign off with another PSL trophy after tasting success with Peshawar Zalmi in 2017.” said Afridi.
“The tournament is an event that encourages and inspires a player to give his very best. I will use the same motivation to help my team and put up performances that can help us achieve our objectives,” added the destructive all-rounder.
Afridi’s record in the PSL
Shahid Afridi has played 50 T20 games in his PSL career, scoring 465 runs at a strike rate of 153.47. He also has bagged 44 wickets with the bowl at an average of 25.61.
Quetta Gladiators will be Shahid Afridi’s 4th team in the Pakistan Super League as ‘Lala’ represented Peshawar Zalmi in 2016 and 2017, Karachi Kings in 2018, and Multan Sultans from 2019 to 2021.
The new season of the PSL is all set to begin on January 27th in Karachi and Quetta Gladiators will kickstart their campaign against Peshawar Zalmi on January 28th.
