“Williamson is a great captain” – Abhishek Sharma after SRH’s victory over RR

Sunrisers Hyderabad finally won their 2nd match of IPL 2021 as they beat Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in Dubai. Jason Roy and skipper Kane Williamson scripted the victory for Sunrisers with their respective half-centuries each.

After winning the toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson opted to bat first. Samson single-handedly steered the whole RR innnings and took them to 164/5 in 20 overs. Samson scored 82 off 57 deliveries with 7 boundaries and 3 sixes.

However, SRH’s new opener – Jason Roy stated his IPL career aggressively in partnership with Wriddhiman Saha. The openers added 57 runs in just 5.1 overs to give SRH a flying start.

Afterwards the departure of Roy, Kane Williamson kept a cool head along with the youngster – Abhishek Sharma to take SRH over the line. Williamson scored 51* runs and Abhishek scored 21* in a partnership of 48* rns  after the loss of 2 wickets in quick succession.

After the winning, Abhishek Sharma felt full of confidence and appreciated skipper Kane Williamson for boosting his confidence. After the match, Abhishek Sharma said:

“I think it was a big opportunity for me because I was waiting for my chance. It is our first win in Dubai, so feeling really good. Throughout the match, I was just planning for this match. Kane was just telling me a lot of things – he is a great captain – and he was boosting my confidence.”

Abhishek Sharma is a hard-hitting lower-order batsman who also bowls fast and accurate left-arm spin. He was bought by Delhi Daredevils for INR 55 lakh ($85,000 approx) at the IPL auction in January 2018, and smashed an unbeaten 46 off 19 balls on debut for them. Later on he was traded to Sunrisers Hyderabad along with Vijay Shankar & Shahbaz Nadeem for Shikhar Dhawan.
