Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was arrested in Hansi and then released on interim bail for his casteist remarks.
Hansi police on Saturday arrested Yuvraj Singh regarding his casteist remarks last year. Yuvraj was reported for uttering a casteist comment during an Instagram Live session along with Yuzvendra Chahal. He was arrested and then granted interim bail.
A resident from Hansi named Rajat Kalsan had lodged an FIR against the former Indian all-rounder under Sections 153A and 153B of the Indian Penal Code and Section 3(1)(u) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention and Atrocities) Act.
Superintendent of Police Nitika Gahlaut confirmed that Yuvraj was released on bail after the Hansi police had made a formal arrest. She said, “We only made a formal arrest and he was released on bail in compliance of the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High court.”
DSP (Hansi) Vinod Shankar said, “Yuvraj Singh came to Hansi on Saturday and we made a formal arrest. He was released on bail bond after a few hours.”
Rajat Kalsan had filed a police complaint against the former World Cup winner alleging that his comment had hurt the sentiments of the Dalit community.

Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter to apologize for his comments during an Instagram live. He expressed regret for hurting people’s sentiments while he was having a conversation with his friends. Here’s what he said in his apology- “This is to clarify I have never believed in any kind of disparity, be it on the basis of caste, color, creed or gender, I have given and continue to spend my life for the welfare of people. I believe in the dignity of life and respect each individual without exception.”
He added, “I understand that while I was having a conversation with my friends, I was misunderstood, which was unwarranted. However, as a responsible Indian I want to say that if I have unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments or feeling, I would like to express regret for the same. My love for India and all its people is eternal.”
